Little Transformation 22
Outside dimensions 10x8x1.5
Actual artwork 6x4
Little Transformation 22 is one of 25 Little Transformations from my series, “Transformations”. This series explores changes we experience with the passage of time. You can see more of them on my website, ReginaBdunn.com
This artwork has a winter theme and is about the quiet times of our lives when we turn inwards to regroup and refresh ourselves. The winter theme is a metaphor for slowing down and becoming reflective. The planet-like sphere and the hand-stitched hatch marks symbolize time passing. The roots represent growth.
The cotton broadcloth fabrics were dyed with Procyon mx dyes in different values of the same hue and overdyed to create a more complex texture. The sphere and twig images were screened on with fabric paints. The artwork was fused to a felt backing and then hand stitch was added to create a gentle flow of shapes, line, and color.
The finished artwork was fused and stitched to a black linen fabric that was then wrapped onto a canvas. Felt is glued to the back to give it a finished look and hanging wire is attached. It is ready to hang.
