Three Floors Down

$425.00

17”Hx17.5”W

This piece represents Kurt Vonnegut’s best-selling novel, Slaughterhouse-Five.  When Vonnegut was deployed to Europe to fight in WWII, he was captured by the Germans.  During the Battle of the Bulge, as a prisoner, Vonnegut was assigned to work in a slaughterhouse in Dresden, Germany.  When fire-bombing started, he survived by hiding in the meat locker, three stories below ground.  The dark blue on my art quilt represents the explosions around him and the sewn triangles the path he took to safety.

*THIS PIECE WAS JURIED INTO THE VONNEGUT EXHIBITION IN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA FOR THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE NEW PHOENIX THEATRE.

PRICE INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING AND SALES TAX. (Shipments via regular ground service, to addresses in the contiguous US)
