Every leaf is a new opportunity to grow. Pink and purple are the sweet colors of spring awakening. Leaf-laden branches soak up the sun’s energy, channeling it inward. The trees come alive gaining strength. Sharp shots become soft leaves in a single leaf awakening to new life. They reach toward the sky and give color to the world. A thousand little leaves soaking up a thousand rays of sunlight.
I take a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of leaves emerging on the branches of the trees outside my window. They are the embodiment of spring’s rejuvenating spirit and the promise of a vibrant, flourishing world.
Gradated pale blue to green for the background, pink to purple for the leaves hand dyed cotton fabrics. Paper pieced with freezer paper templates.
Machine quilted with 30 weight rayon and 80 weight silk on my domestic B 770 and Q20 BERNINAs.
By using freezer paper templates, I am able to achieve beautiful curved designs in my work. I have found that working with my own hand dyed fabrics gives me the depth and vibrancy of color that lifts my soul with their intensity.
