How to display small fiber art

by Pam Morris

I use my hand dyed fabrics in my artwork and consider this a key part of their visual appeal.

I want to professionally present my artwork as framed pieces.

I carefully measure the size of the stretched canvas I am using for each piece, and then add that measurement plus 1/2” to my piece of art measurement.

I take a “facing” strip of fabric that is the width of my stretcher bars + 1/2” + 1.5” that is pulled around the bars and stapled in place.

I see the “facing” on the little quilt, rounding the corners, then I apply to the bars, pulling the facing around the bars tightly and staple the facing in place.

I will finish the back with fabric to make it nice and neat, and add a wire for hanging the art piece on the wall. Now my small quilted art is ready to find a new home.
