ABOUT PAM MORRIS

At Int’l Quilt Festival several decades ago Pamela Morris stood in a too small meeting room and heard Nancy Crow talk about quilts as art!

The creative focus of Pamela’s art life changed on the spot from contemporary quilting to becoming a fiber artist.
She returned home to beautiful SW Florida and began dyeing and printing her own fabrics.

From being a traditional quilt teacher she became an art student, studying with big names in the art quilt milieux. Artists such as Paula Nadelstern, Nancy Crow, Michael James etc.  Local painters, collage art and printing on fabric became her means to express her art.

Living on the water in a sun-filled land influenced her color senses.
Lately her work is simplifying, honing her expressions of color interactions and a more linear construction.

Artist Statement

What does color do?

Make you miss an old home, remind you of vacations, of the past?

Using my hand dyed fabrics and their variety of hues, simple lines, I want to inspire you and encourage you to remember, to feel.

I hope my artwork draws your eye and makes you question what it is, where it is.
